DESCRIPTION:Helmholtz Health Core Facility Network Spatial Omics School \n
Welcome\nWelcome to the application portal for the Helmholtz Health Core F
acility Network Spatial Omics School (SOS).\nThe Spatial Omics School is d
esigned for PhD candidates and early-career postdoctoral researchers who w
ould like to strengthen their theoretical and practical expertise in spati
al omics. The programme brings together experts in spatial biology\, omics
technologies\, biomedical imaging\, data science\, and research data mana
gement.\nPlease note that submitting an application does not guarantee par
ticipation. Applications will be reviewed by a scientific selection commit
tee. Once you accept an offered place\, your registration is binding.\nAbo
ut the Spatial Omics School\nThe Spatial Omics School is a modular trainin
g programme covering the complete spatial omics workflow: from biological
and technological foundations to experimental implementation\, data genera
tion and analysis\, and finally interpretation and application in biomedic
al research.\nParticipants will be introduced to key spatial omics technol
 ogies\, experimental design\, sample preparation\, imaging- and omics-base
d readouts\, and computational approaches for analysing spatially resolved
datasets. Wet-lab sessions will provide practical insight into selected e
xperimental steps and demonstrate how sample handling\, assay design\, and
data generation affect downstream analysis and biological interpretation.
\nThe programme also addresses data structure\, quality control\, document
ation\, reproducibility\, and metadata annotation.\nThe teaching format co
 mbines lectures\, expert talks\, wet-lab sessions\, hands-on data analysis
 \, case studies\, interactive discussions\, and community-oriented exchang
e.\nThe school is organised across three Helmholtz Health Centres:\n\nModu
le 1 – Helmholtz Munich (HMGU)\, München: Foundations of Spatial Transc
riptomics and Visium HD Workflows9–12 November 2026\, followed by an onl
ine session on 27 November 2026\nModule 2 – Deutsches Krebsforschungszen
trum (DKFZ)\, Heidelberg: Spatial Multiomics\, Data Workflows and Integrat
 ion1–5 February 2027\nModule 3 – Max Delbrück Center (MDC)\, Berlin:
Spatial Omics Across Scales26–30 April 2027\n\nParticipants may apply fo
 r one\, two\, or all three modules\, depending on their interests\, prior
knowledge\, and training needs. The preliminary programme may still be adj
usted\, and detailed schedules will be provided before the start of each m
odule.\nPlease consult the preliminary programme for an overview of the th
ree modules and their thematic focus.\nApplication and selection process\n
Applications will be evaluated by a scientific committee.\nThe selection w
ill be based primarily on the applicant’s motivation\, scientific backgr
ound\, and the relevance of the selected module or modules to their curren
t research and training needs.\nRequired application documents\nPlease pre
pare a motivation letter before starting your application.\nThe motivation
letter (no more than two A4 pages) should explain why you would like to
participate\, how the selected module or modules relate to your research\,
which skills or knowledge you would like to develop\, and how you intend
to apply the training in your future work.\nOnly complete applications sub
mitted by the deadline can be considered.\nParticipation fee\nThe particip
ation fee is:\n\n€500 for employees of Helmholtz institutions\n€800 fo
r external participants\n\nThe fee applies per module and includes:\n\npar
ticipation in the full course programme\, including theoretical and practi
cal sessions\nlunch on each course day\none social event during the module
week.\n\n \nTravel and accommodation are not included in the participati
on fee. Participants are responsible for organising and paying for their o
wn travel and accommodation.\nPayment details and applicable deadlines wil
l be provided to successful applicants.\nApplication deadline: 31. AUGUST
2026\nApplications submitted after the deadline may not be considered.\nFu
rther information\nFollowing the selection process\, successful applicants
will receive detailed information. \n We are looking forward to your reg
