Register now for the high-level conference on
“Improving cancer care in Europe”
on 3 September 2020
from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
With around 3.9 million new patients and 1.3 million deaths per year in Europe as well as a sharp increase in the number of citizens who are living either with or after the disease, cancer represents a major disease burden for our society. Clearly, concerted EU-wide efforts to improve prevention, detection, and treatment of cancer and counseling of patients and their families throughout their disease journey are needed to complement national programs. The German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) as the national center for cancer research in Germany fully supports the commitment and initiative of the European Commission to fight the growing burden of cancer in an aging society by implementing an ambitious EU-wide Cancer Plan. The European cancer burden is one central topic of the new Trio Presidency of the Council of the European Union, which started on 1 January 2019.
During this conference internationally, renowned experts and high-ranking politicians will address and discuss urgent topics with the aim to reduce the cancer burden in Europe and to improve cancer care for European citizens.
