2nd DKFZ AGING & CANCER WORKSHOP - 24.11.2021
This workshop aims to highlight and promote interconnected aging and cancer research, two research fields that are tightly linked. Future efforts to increase our understanding of how aging-associated changes contribute to cancer initiation and progression as well as accelerated aging in cancer survivors will allow for better cancer therapies, cancer survivor care and improved cancer prevention for the elderly.
Moreover, we are happy to host again two renowned international guest speakers from the field of aging and cancer research, Laura Niedernhofer (Institute on the Biology of Aging and Metabolism, UMN, USA) and Peter Adams (SBP Medical Discovery Institute, La Jolla, USA).
In particular, Laura Niederhofer’s research focuses on the connection of DNA damage and cellular senescence in chronic inflammation during aging and cancer, including the development of senolytics towards clinical intervention. The research of Peter Adam’s lab studies epigenetic alterations during aging and cancer with a focus on immuno-oncology.
The workshop will further include:
Meet-the-Speaker session, 2 talks of Helmholtz researchers on aging &/or cancer research and an open discussion round at the end.
Please register for the event (registration is free of charge).
Zoom links for the event will be sent to registered participants prior to the event.
