Bridging Disciplines:  Advancing Sex and Gender-Related Research in Biomedicine

Join us on November 29th at the University Hospital of Heidelberg (Germany) for a hybrid international symposium where distinguished speakers from basic science, clinical research, and social sciences will provide a comprehensive overview of current trends and future directions in sex- and gender-related biomedical research.

If you are working on sex-specific molecular mechanisms, the influence of sex and gender on disease outcomes, and the socio-economic impact of gender medicine. Submit your abstract by the 20th of October, following the registration page.

Keynote Speakers: We are honoured to welcome experts who will discuss the significance of sex and gender in research. Dr. Theodore S. Kapellos (Ludwig-Maximilians-University of Munich Clinics I Helmholtz Center Munich) will present his latest findings on sex-specific cell-cell interactions in chronic obstructive airway disease. Prof. Dr. Dr. Lia Bally (University Hospital Bern) will update us on the current research on sex and gender differences in metabolic health.

Panel Discussion: A dynamic panel will bring togetherProf. Dr. med. Carolin Lerchenmüller (University Hospital Zurich), Prof. Dr. Sabine Ludwig (Medical University Innsbruck), Prof. Dr. Christiane Schwieren (Heidelberg University), Prof. Dr. Gertraud Stadler (Charité University Medicine Berlin)Prof. Dr. med. Wolfgang Wick (University Hospital Heidelberg), to discuss the integration of gender and sex studies into academic curricula and research, emphasizing their importance across institutions and the need for sustained research efforts.

This symposium offers a unique opportunity to explore the intersection of sex, gender, and health, network with experts, and contribute to critical conversations in this field.

We look forward to an inspiring day of learning and collaboration.

Mark your calendar and be part of the discussion shaping the future of sex- and gender-related research in biomedicine and healthcare.

There is no registration fee! The event will be registered at the LÄK Baden-Württemberg to enable the acquisition of CME points.
