DKTK School of Oncology Tech Talk
with Dr. Inmaculada Martínez-Reyes
Junior Group Leader DKFZ and DKTK Berlin
Wednesday 26.11.25 | 16:00 - 17:00 via Zoom
Join our third DKTK School of Oncology Tech Talk in 2025 with Dr. Inmaculada Martínez-Reyes who will talk about "Metabolic Networks in Tumor Immunity: Targeting Therapy-Resistant Senescent Cells". After her presentation there will be ample opportunity to ask questions to the speaker and to engage in a lively discussion.
Cancer relapse remains a major challenge, often driven by tumor cells that survive therapy by entering a senescent state. These cells persist in a dormant but metabolically active condition and can later fuel regrowth. My research investigates how metabolic pathways regulate both immune cell function and the survival of senescent cancer cells. By combining CRISPR-based functional genomics, metabolic profiling, and preclinical models, we aim to identify metabolic determinants of immune dysfunction and new vulnerabilities in senescent cells. Our ultimate goal is to develop precision strategies that improve immunotherapy outcomes and prevent relapse.
SPEAKER
Dr. Inmaculada Martínez-Reyes

Dr. Inmaculada Martínez-Reyes is a Junior Group Leader at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) and the German Cancer Consortium (DKTK) Berlin, based at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin. Her research explores how metabolic pathways in cancer and immune cells influence therapy responses and disease relapse. Trained in cancer metabolism (PhD and postdoctoral work with Dr. José Manuel Cuezva, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, Spain, and Dr. Navdeep Chandel, Northwestern University, Chicago, USA) and tumor immunology (postdoctoral work with Dr. Thomas Blankenstein, MDC Berlin, Germany), her group integrates immunology, metabolism, and therapeutic development to target vulnerabilities in therapy-resistant cancer cells and improve patient outcomes.
