We are pleased to invite you to this year’s tree planting, organized together with the City of Heidelberg Landscape and Forestry Office, on the 21st of February (Saturday) from 9:00 am to 2 pm. The event is open to the public, so feel free to invite friends and family. Just make sure everyone registers beforehand.
About the planting site: The area was destroyed by Storm Wiebke in 1990, and later replanted with ash, which has since been lost to ash dieback. Natural forest regeneration could not be allowed to proceed on this very nutrient-rich soil, as the site is highly prone to invasive and competing vegetation such as pokeweed and tree of heaven. The area offers good conditions for a pilot with ornamental oaks from certified original provenances. As part of the federal funding program "Climate-Adapted Forest Management," these will be supplemented with hornbeams to ensure a balanced ratio of native tree species.
Where:
Hiking group: Meet at 9:00 AM at Panorama Park (next to the playground). We will hike for about 1 and a half hours to the planting site.
Bus: Take Bus 39 towards Königstuhl and get off at the bus stop Drei Eichen at 10:19 am (Bus 39 leaves Bismarckplatz at 10:00 am)
Driving/carpool option: Meet at 10:20 AM at the Waldparkplatz Drei-Eichen in Rohrbach. The hiking group will join you there and continue together for the final 20-minute walk.
Based on the preferences provided in the registration form, we will do our best to match drivers and passengers. However, a carpool seat cannot be guaranteed.
What you need to bring: Suitable, “off-road” boots, gloves, and clothing that can get dirty.
What they will provide: Tools, gloves (if needed), trees, food, and drinks.
Please note that registration is limited to 30 persons. If you have registered and are unable to attend at short notice, please withdraw your registration as soon as possible so that your place can be allocated to another person.

Wir freuen uns, Sie zur zweiten gemeinsamen, mit dem Landschafts- und Forstamt der Stadt Heidelberg organisierten, Baumpflanzaktion am 21. Februar (Samstag) von 9.00 bis 14.00 Uhr einladen zu können. Die Veranstaltung ist öffentlich, laden Sie also gerne Freund:innen und Familie ein. Bitte achten Sie darauf, dass sich alle vorab anmelden.
Zur Pflanzfläche: Die Fläche wurde 1990 durch Sturm Wiebke zerstört und anschließend mit Eschen wiederaufgeforstet, die inzwischen dem Eschentriebsterben zum Opfer gefallen sind. Aufgrund der starken Verunkrautung auf dem nährstoffreichen Standort kann die natürliche Waldentwicklung nicht abgewartet werden. Stattdessen bietet die Fläche gute Voraussetzungen für einen Praxisversuch mit Ziereichen aus geprüften Originalherkünften. Im Rahmen der Bundesförderung „Klimaangepasstes Waldmanagement“ werden diese durch Hainbuchen ergänzt, um ein ausgewogenes Verhältnis standortheimischer Baumarten zu gewährleisten.
Wo:
Wandergruppe: Treffpunkt um 9:00 Uhr am Panorama Park neben dem Spielplatz. Von dort wandern wir etwa eine Stunde über den Steinbruch zur Pflanzfläche.
Bus: Mit der Buslinie 39 in Richtung Königstuhl fahren und um 10:19 Uhr an der Haltestelle Drei Eichen aussteigen. Die Buslinie 39 fährt um 10:00 Uhr am Bismarckplatz ab.
Auto oder Mitfahrgelegenheit: Treffpunkt um 10:20 Uhr am Waldparkplatz Drei-Eichen in Rohrbach. Dort stößt die Wandergruppe dazu, und wir gehen die letzten 20 Minuten gemeinsam weiter.
Auf Grundlage der im Anmeldeformular angegebenen Präferenzen versuchen wir, Fahrer:innen und Mitfahrende zusammenzubringen. Eine Mitfahrgelegenheit kann jedoch nicht garantiert werden.
Was Sie mitbringen müssen: Geeignetes Schuhwerk, Handschuhe und Kleidung, die schmutzig werden darf.
Was wir zur Verfügung stellen: Werkzeug, Pflanzen, Essen und Getränke.
Bitte beachten Sie, dass die Zahl der Anmeldungen auf 30 Personen begrenzt ist. Wenn Sie sich angemeldet haben und kurzfristig doch nicht teilnehmen können, ziehen Sie Ihre Anmeldung bitte schnellstmöglich zurück, damit Ihr Platz an eine andere Person vergeben werden kann.
