CALL FOR APPLICATION

To apply for funding to attend this project week, it is a prerequisite that you are an international Alumni from one of the 6 partner institutions / universities. That means, the project is aimed at those, who studied or conducted research at one of the participating institutions and have spent at least 3 months in Germany as a part of their academic career. 

Participants will be selected based on the following criteria:

  1. Scientific Excellence: Participants are invited to demonstrate significant expertise in their respective fields and a track record of academic excellence, according to their career stage.
  2. Diversity: Selection emphasizes diversity in disciplines, cultural backgrounds, and professional experiences. Gender equity and representation of marginalised groups are  prioritised.
  3. Impact: Participants should have the capacity to benefit from the project and act as multipliers by sharing acquired knowledge within their professional networks and communities.
  4. Interdisciplinarity: Ability to contribute meaningfully to discussions on global digital health through an interdisciplinary lens.
  5. Engagement and Motivation: Strong motivation to participate, as evidenced through a personal statement explaining their interest in the project and its relevance to their work.

Selection Process: Applications will be reviewed by a committee comprising project coordinators from the six partner institutions and subject-matter experts. Efforts will be made to ensure representation from a broad geographical and professional spectrum.

HIGHLIGHTS

The travel expenses, accommodation and board costs will be covered to the extent described below with the support of the DAAD from BMZ and AA funds in accordance with the funding regulations.

The following expenses are covered for the participants:

  • Each participant will receive a limited travel grant to support their travel costs (economy class flight, airport-transfer, visa application) to Germany, depending from which home country they are travelling.
  • For flights, we recommend that you travel to Frankfurt International Airport and take a transfer / train to Cologne.
  • All participants will receive the same daily allowance to support accommodation and other incidentals during the week. A hotel in both Cologne and Heidelberg has been secured for the project week participants.

 

A travel health insurance is mandatory. Cost for health insurance can be covered by the travel grant.

Transfer between the venues, from Cologne to Heidelberg (23 November) will be organised for the entire group.

Please note:

Participation in all days of the project week is mandatory for the reimbursement of costs.

The travel expenses will be reimbursed to the participants according to the costs incurred and documented on site, up to a maximum of the amount stated. In case the entire journey or a portion of it is not realised, the costs incurred cannot be reimbursed usually.

The costs will be reimbursed after participation in the project week.

If the trip is to be extended, the travel costs for participation in the project week can only be covered if the stay is extended by a maximum of 5 working days before 20 November or after 26 November in total. An extension within this framework could be used for a personal visit to one of the 6 partner institutions in order to strengthen further cooperation.

Participants' own expenses:

  • Transport costs from the home location to the departure airport in the home country and back
  • Any costs that exceed the daily allowance of the project week incurred in Germany during or beyond the period of the project week.
