DKTK School of Oncology Tech Talk
with Dr. Isabel Poschke
Head of Immune Monitoring Unit at NCT Heidelberg and team lead within Clinical Cooperation Unit Neuroimmunology and Brain Tumor Immunology (DKFZ)
Wednesday 09.12.26 | 16:00 - 17:00 via Zoom
Join our third and last DKTK School of Oncology Tech Talk in 2026 with Dr. Isabel Poschke who will talk about "State of the Art in Immune Monitoring". As per usual after the presentation there will be the opportunity to ask questions and to engage in a lively discussion.
Immune monitoring has become an integral component of immuno-oncology trials, providing insights into treatment-induced immune responses and their relationship with clinical outcome. With increasingly sophisticated immunotherapeutic strategies, however, conventional measures of immune activation are often insufficient to capture the breadth, quality, and dynamics of treatment-induced T-cell responses.
The Immune Monitoring Unit (IMU) at the National Center for Tumor Diseases (NCT) in Heidelberg develops and implements advanced approaches for deep immune profiling in clinical trials. By integrating multiparametric flow cytometry, functional T-cell assays, T-cell receptor (TCR) repertoire sequencing, single-cell technologies, and antigen-specific TCR identification, we aim to resolve immune responses from global changes in immune composition down to individual antigen-reactive T-cell clonotypes.
During the seminar, we will review several immune assays, from basic to cutting-edge, evaluate their strengths and pitfalls, and discuss how they are being used in real-word immune-oncology trials.
SPEAKER
Dr. Isabel Poschke

Isabel Poschke received her B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Molecular Biotechnology from the Technical University of Munich, Germany. She then moved to Stockholm, Sweden, to perform doctoral research on the topics of tumor infiltrating lymphocytes, myeloid-derived suppressor cells and tumor-mediated immune dysfunction, and obtained her PhD in Experimental Oncology from Karolinska Institute in 2011. From 2012, she worked as a postdoc and junior team-lead in the Division of Molecular Oncology of Gastrointestinal Tumors at the German Cancer Research Center in Heidelberg, further investigating properties of tumor infiltrating lymphocytes. Since 2018, she heads the Immune Monitoring Unit (IMU) at the National Center for Tumor Diseases (NCT) in Heidelberg and is scientific team lead within the Clinical Cooperation Unit Neuroimmunology and Brain Tumor Immunology (DKFZ). The IMU team strives to deliver deep immune profiling of antigen-specific immune responses in order to define features of successful anti-tumor immunity in cancer patients (https://www.dkfz.de/en/immun-monitoring-unit). Parallel scientific projects focus on discovery and characterization of antigen-reactive T cell receptors and the analysis of molecular as well as functional features guiding T cell expansion, persistence and function in cancer patients.
